Thailand Privilege Platinum Membership

The Best Option for Families

The Thailand Privilege Platinum membership is the second tier of the Thailand Privilege Card program. It is the most affordable of the membership tiers that also allows you to add family members to your membership and provide them with their own Thailand Elite Visa. Platinum membership is a good starting point if you are planning on bringing dependents with you to Thailand, or if you want a bit more than the basic benefits that the Gold membership provides. Let’s take a closer look at the Platinum membership, the benefits it gives you, and how to apply.

What Is Thailand Privilege Platinum Membership?

The Thailand Privilege program enables non-Thai citizens to stay in Thailand for extended periods of time with few requirements. It provides a multiple-entry Thai Elite Visa and is valid for 5 to 20+ years as well as a long list of additional perks.

How long your Thailand Privilege visa is good for and what benefits are available to you depends on your level of membership, of which there are four:

Reserve Membership

Platinum is the second tier. It’s no easier or harder to obtain than Gold or Diamond, as apart from price the requirements are the same, but the Reserve tier is only available via invitation.

How Does Platinum Membership Differ from the Other Tiers?

There are a few important distinctions between the Platinum tier and the Gold, Diamond, and Reserve tiers.

Price

The Platinum Elite Visa costs a non-refundable 1,500,000 THB fee (approximately $42,600 ). It is the “mid-range” option, and the most affordable membership allowing for family members to join. Each family member added at the time of application costs only 1,000,000 THB (approximately $28,400).

Length of Stay

With the Thai Elite visa granted by Platinum membership, you are allowed to stay more or less unrestricted in Thailand for 5 years, with an option to renew the visa once for a total stay duration of 10 years. Multiple entries are allowed, meaning you can come and go as you please without applying for a new visa or entry permit each time. Although you won't need to make frequent "visa runs" every 90 days, you'll still need to leave the country at least briefly once a year. You’ll also need to report to immigration every 90 days as with other Thai visas, but as of early 2024, the Thailand Privilege program authorities are discussing increasing this reporting period to once a year.

Transfers and Joint Applications

As with the Gold and Platinum tiers, Platinum membership cannot be transferred to someone else in the way that a Thailand Privilege Reserve Membership can. However, as stated above joint membership with family members is possible, unlike with the Gold tier.

Points Awarded

The Thailand Privilege card program includes a system that awards points on an annual basis which can then be redeemed for rewards, such as a free spa visit or a health checkup at a premium hospital. The Thailand Privilege Points System grants you an amount of points per year based on your membership level.

If you possess a Platinum membership, you get 35 points per year that you can spend however and whenever you wish. Redemptions typically cost 1, 2, or 3 points, and point cost is the same across all tiers of membership. However, at higher tiers, some rewards are complimentary or come with extra perks such as priority booking. Points reset at the beginning of every calendar year, and unspent points are lost.

What Are the Perks and Benefits of a Thailand Platinum Elite Visa?

Other than the above distinctions, the advantages offered to Platinum membership holders closely resemble those provided to the upper- and lower-tier members. Consult the following chart for details on what each Thailand Privilege membership package encompasses.

Is Platinum Membership Right for Me?

The Thailand Privilege Platinum Membership is a good option if you are looking for an affordable way to get your whole family Thai Elite Visas. It’s much easier to acquire, as you only need to apply once with all members, and supplemental Platinum Elite Visas cost only 1,000,000 THB each. So for just an extra 100,000 THB, you can get a family member all the privileges of a Platinum membership and still have an easier time than doing individual Gold memberships.

Platinum will also be a good fit if you plan on spending a lot of time in Thailand or will come and go frequently, and you don’t want to commit to the more expensive Diamond membership.

This is because you will likely use a significant portion of your points on airport transfers or Elite Personal Liaisons (EPLs), which provide assistance with tasks such as dealing with immigration or setting up a bank account. The more time you spend in Thailand or traveling through it, the more services you will need to spend points on, and that’s in addition to any leisure rewards you want to redeem.

Fortunately, if you begin your membership to Thailand Privilege at the Platinum tier, but decide you want more points or a longer stay, you can easily upgrade to a Diamond tier or even the Reserve tier if you get an invitation. All that is required is for you to pay the difference in membership fees.

How Do I Complete a Thailand Privilege Platinum Application?

01

Fill out the application form

You can do this by yourself, but to streamline the processes, it’s recommended to apply through an authorized General Sales and Services Agent, as their services are free.

02

Pay the Application Fee and Send in the Application

Along with the required documents, you will need to send a payment of 50,000 THB as an application fee. However, this amount is deducted from your membership fee if you are approved, which makes it more of a deposit than a fee. If your background check does not pass, you will be refunded this money, but if you withdraw your application or fail to pay the full membership fee after being approved, this money is forfeited.

03

Pass the Screening Process

After they receive your application packet, the Thailand Privilege authority will perform a background check on you to determine your eligibility, which will typically take 4-6 weeks to complete.

04

Receive Approval and Pay the Membership Fee

You will be informed of your successful application with an approval letter. Once approved, you must then make the required payment in full, which at this point will be 1,450,000 THB. You can pay via credit card, bank transfer, cash, Alipay, or cryptocurrency.

05

Affix Visa to Passport

Once the payment is cleared, you’ll be approved to affix the new visa to your passport. This can be done in your home country’s Thai embassy or in Thailand at immigration services. Your visa agent can help you coordinate this.
